Biztech Lawyers has been actively working behind the scenes to help steer Bonza towards launch, clearing the way for its operational commencement. It has sold over 10,000 tickets in its first few days.

Australian start-up airline, Bonza, has obtained its Air Operators Certificate, clearing the way for the launch of the country’s first high-capacity airline in more than 15 years and only independent low-cost carrier.

The airline, led by CEO Tim Jordan and CFO Lidia Valenzuela, with the support of backers 777 Partners, is set to shake up the industry. With 27 new routes to 17 locations, including notable regional destinations that are currently not serviced or underserviced, Bonza is opening up new opportunities for Australian consumers to visit family, friends and have more choices in choosing a holiday destination.

“This is a historic moment for Australian aviation,” said Jordan. “Bonza is filling a gap in the market and we are thrilled to finally be able to offer our services to the public. This is only the beginning for Bonza, and we look forward to continuing to grow and expand in the coming years.”

Biztech Lawyers played a key role in Bonza’s success, providing critical operational aviation tech supplier and services agreements together with commercial and financial agreements and legal support.

“We are extremely pleased to have been a part of Bonza’s journey to launch,” said Andrew Truswell, head of Biztech Lawyers’ Aviation-tech, and Data, Privacy and Cyber practice in Australia. “Bonza is a great example of an innovative company that is changing the way we think about air travel we are honored to have been able to support them in achieving this important milestone.”
