Biztech Lawyers’ Alison Berryman was the subject of The Law Society Gazette’s “My Legal Life’’ feature.
Alison, who is Biztech’s UK Senior Managing Lawyer, was asked by the Gazette about all aspects of her education and legal career.
She explained how she initially chose science A-levels but realised science was not for her and so took a law A-level. She then went to study law at university and began working in the music industry in London.
However, she decided to make use of her legal qualifications and took a paralegal role at a Nasdaq-listed company. From there, she worked for a legal firm specialising in intellectual property and information technology matters.
Alison told the Gazette that her role at Biztech is divided between commercial contracts - including supporting tech businesses in negotiations - and data protection compliance work. She also detailed some of the most memorable legal projects in her career so far. These included her involvement in negotiating contracts with the Department for Transport and more than 200 UK local authorities to create the system for issuing Blue Badges to disabled residents.
Alison also outlined some aspects of her working life in London. And she talked about how she has been in choirs since she was a child, often singing at some of the most notable venues and events.
